The official Bayonet Description states:
“Relatively unchanged in its design since World War II, the bayonet still retains a place in modern military strategy. Bayonet charges have continued to be effective as recently as the second Gulf War and the war in Afghanistan.”
The Bayonet is a CS:GO knife available to players in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and is an extremely rare item received from opening certain weapons cases. The Bayonet is one of the five original cosmetic knives introduced in the Arms Deal update.

The Bayonet is cosmetic only, and shares the same performance as the default knife. The Bayonet was first seen in the beta versions of Global Offensive as the default knife for the Counter-Terrorists.
The Bayonet is based on the real-life Smith and Wesson SW1B, a knife designed after the original real-life M9 bayonet.
The in-game M9 version of the knife is instead based on a more modern knife, designed after the M9 but features a serrated blade, and is only named after the M9 Bayonet.
The CS GO knife (from French baïonnette) is a bladed weapon such as a knife or short sword, or spike-shaped weapon designed to fit in, on, over or underneath the muzzle of a rifle, musket or similar weapon, increasing the weapon, as a spear. In this regard, it is an ancillary close-quarter combator last-resort weapon.
Some modern bayonets, such as the one used on the British SA80 assault rifle and the one used on the AK47, can be used as wire cutters when combined with their scabbards. Knife-shaped bayonets—when not fixed to a gun barrel—have long been utilized by soldiers in the field as general purpose cutting implements.
